Oh boy here we go! If you’ve ever played Super Smash Bros (ANY OF THEM!) then you no doubt have experienced the extreme anxiety one gets when the next installment is close to release. We’ve known this was coming for a while now, and we’ve even been given some neat information from Nintendo themselves. They told us about the new fighters such as Wii Fit Trainer, Mii Fighters, Greninja, Rosalina/Luma, Villager, King Dedede, Little Mac, and perhaps the most exciting of them all, Mega Man. They told us about connectivity between the 3DS and the Wii U. They told us about new trophies. They told us a lot. But now it’s time for a little more show and a little less tell.
For the first time ever, Super Smash Bros. will get its day on a handheld video game system, namely the Nintendo 3DS. One thing is for certain, and that’s that the new Super Smash Bros. is heavily geared towards playing with your friends, just as it always has been. All of the pre-release 411 has yet to disappoint. Certain to grace the new Super Smash Bros. games are plenty of unlockable trophies, updated moves, refined controls, new stages, and maybe something cool that we don’t even know about?! That’s the beauty behind E3. It gives all the fanboys a chance to get chubby in their pants without dropping the bomb. Once the new Smash is out, then we can all blow our wads at the newest installment in what might be a universally praised fighting game.
This year’s E3 features something very exciting and new for the Super Smash Bros. series. A tournament. The Super Smash Bros Invitational tournament features 16 highly skilled players as they go head-to-head in the first ever public tournament featuring the new Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U. While it appears that the Wii U version will receive the most amount of feature-time, one can only hope that Nintendo gives 3DS owners a decent glimpse at one of 2014’s most anticipated titles.
