Nintendo announced Splatoon, a brand new I.P. during their E3 2014 digital event today.
Splatoon is about expanding territory. Two four person teams will compete in this frenetic shooting action game that will take advantage of the online capabilities of the Wii U. Rival teams will try and claim as much territory as possible by covering the arena’s with ink within a certain time limit and the team with the most turf at the end wins.
Players will use their ink gun and other weapons and tools to help them color everything in sight. You will also have the ability to turn into a squid, which gives you an expanded range of options like the ability to quickly travel through your own team’s ink.
The Wii U game pad will show the ongoing territorial changes in real-time on a map displayed on the game pad’s screen. The game pad also displays the locations of your other team members on the map. By tapping on the icon you can can quickly blast over the entire map to join them as needed.
Nintendo says this game will be out for Wii U some time in 2015.
