One of the most anticipated games of 2015 finally has a “solid” release date.
Konami today revealed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will invade home consoles on September 1st. PC players will get their hands on the game two weeks later on September 15.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will conclude the saga of Big Boss, the genetic father of Solid Snake, as he seeks vengeance for his fallen comrades. The game will feature the series’ signature “Tactical Espionage Action” set within a sprawling open world as Snake battles new enemies, and the environment itself.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will also feature a robust online game called Metal Gear Online. Metal Gear Online will go live with the September 1 release.

Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima has gone on record in an interview with IGN today saying that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will end his involvement with the series.
“I always say ‘this will be my last Metal Gear,’ but the games in the series that I’ve personally designed and produced — Metal Gear on MSX, MG2, MGS1, 2, 3, 4, Peace Walker, and now MGSV — are what constitute a single ‘Metal Gear Saga.’ With MGSV, I’m finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final ‘Metal Gear Solid.’ Even if the ‘Metal Gear’ franchise continues, this is the last ‘Metal Gear.’”
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will release on September 1 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It will also be available for PC via Steam on September 15th.
