Through its licensing relationship with Capcom, the Resident Evil Revelations 2 OST is now available digitally at Sumthing.com, as well as other digital music websites. You can claim ownership of all these spooky tracks, spanning over 3 hours in total, for $9.99. You can snag just your favorites at a dollar per song. It’s worth noting though, that if you plan on eventually getting them all, do not do it piecemeal. All together, there are 95 tracks.
The original score is a collaborative effort of Capcom composer and sound director Kota Suzuki, film composer Nima Fakhrara, and composer and sound designer Ichiro Kohmoto, produced by Koyo Sonae.
Describing the direction of the score, Kota Suzuki says, “Our main theme of focus was ‘duality of sound’ implemented through original instruments. We assembled this compilation with two distinct genres of sound in mind. Aiming for the overall music to deliver a broad, airy feel, while at the same time introducing acoustic instruments to create gaps within the sound, the composition reduces how quickly players grow accustomed to the music, and allows for sound effects to easily create the game’s desired atmosphere.”
Resident Evil Revelations 2 began its episodic release on February 24th, finishing its run and releasing as a whole physically on March 17th. Those who’ve been playing weekly have likely already finished the game, while those who waited to experience the entire game at once probably haven’t seen the end credits. Whether you’re in the former group and have decided the OST is worth the purchase, or if you’re in the latter and have made enough progress that you need to have these frightful tunes on your hard drive ASAP, you can find the complete Resident Evil Revelations 2 OST at Sumthing.com. Does this OST match the quality of the legendary scores found in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis? That’s certainly debatable. However, we can assure you that any song on the list will be loads better than the Mansion Basement Theme from Resident Evil: Director’s Cut-DualShock Edition. Geez.
