Exciting news folks… Nintendo will be kicking off the Electronic Entertainment Expo, widely known as E3, tonight at 5:35pm EST with the highly anticipated Nintendo World Championships (NWC), an event not held by the company since 1990!
Nerd Bacon‘s resident Twitch expert InfiniteKnife will be lending his services to share expert analysis and commentary throughout the entire event. With so many Twitch hosts, why did we choose InfiniteKnife? From the man himself:
“I’m very excited about NWC because I wasn’t old enough to appreciate the last one they held in 1990. I think it’s really cool to see Nintendo bringing it back after 25 years and incorporating games from the past and the present. Even though we haven’t experienced NWC 2015 just yet, I can only hope that Nintendo will start doing this event annually and with more locations included.”
There you have it folks! Local celebrity InfinteKnife has spoken. He wants more locations and an annual event. We don’t think that’s too much to ask.
What To Expect Tonight
We expect to see some serious competition with expert judges. The players will likely range from the super-unknown to the nationally ranked. Games will include classics like The Legend of Zelda and brand new titles like Splatoon. They will also be bringing in speed runners in addition to the 8 winners of the regional matches; a great way to reach amateur and pro gamers.
Final Thought
Will there be a special super limited edition disc based off of the 2015 Nintendo World Championships that will end up being as coveted as the 1990 cart? Hmm…. What do you think?
