The next entry in the dark and disturbing Corpse Party series will release on October 13th, 2015 in North America for PlayStation Vita, courtesy of publisher XSEED Games. Corpse Party: Blood Drive will be available digitally for $39.99, but for only ten dollars more, the physical edition comes with two discs worth of music from the franchise, as well as an art book with over 100 pages of the gruesome artwork featured in the games. Releasing just before Halloween, those music discs would be great if you’re hosting a haunted house, and the art book will make for a spooky coffee table piece.
Fans of the series will be able to experience the dreadful Heavenly Host Elementary school in 3D for the first time, rather than using the 2D sprites featured in previous games. Not to worry though, Corpse Party: Blood Drive will still feature the anime character profile art, and this art is also in story scenes. The game is said to be the final Corpse Party game, and will feature 19 total chapters of gameplay that will reveal shocking secrets and answer burning questions fans have had since the PSP releases.
Whether you have a PlayStation Vita, or you’ve taken advantage of one of the many sales on the PlayStation TV, you’ll be good to go. As with most Vita games that don’t require many touch intensive controls, Corpse Party: Blood Drive will be compatible with PSTV. With the deep story and dark, hopeless atmosphere in this series, using the PlayStation TV to play the newest release on a television, surround sound and all of the lights off instead of wherever you might be with a PlayStation Vita is ideal. If you’ve never played a Corpse Party game, I must inform you, these games are much darker than most mainstream horror. It’s not a fun horror game like slasher movie homage Until Dawn, or even just a tense horror game like Dead Space. Corpse Party deals with the supernatural, body horror, gore, insanity, guilt, suicide, hopelessness, betrayal and the lighthearted moments and few and far between. It can be quite hard to handle, and you should be prepared for the worst going in.
We’ll let you know about any news on Corpse Party: Blood Drive between now and October 13th. Stay tuned to Nerd Bacon for all things spooky this October!
