Injustice 2 is the sequel to the hit 2013 fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, which featured a robust selection of super heroes and villains from the DC Comics books stable of characters.
Injustice was based off a modified version of the engine used in the fantastic 2011 reboot of Ed Boon’s other iconic series, Mortal Kombat.
A full roster for Injustice 2 hasn’t been revealed yet, however, we do know that we are getting a few newcomers such as Super Girl and Gorilla Grood. A loot drop system is being implemented into the game play of Injustice 2, which allows players to customize their favorite super hero with various upgrades that will impact how that character plays.
This concept could allow situations where two people playing as Aquaman could have vastly different moves at their disposal depending on how they have chosen to customize the character.
Injustice 2 recently made waves in November with rumors that Boon was working on a deal that would allow a guest appearance by another popular comic book character: Spawn.
Boon held an informal poll before Thanksgiving on his Twitter account asking followers who they would like to see as a guest in Injustice 2 in which Spawn won handily. Then, an Injustice 2 Spawn voice acting credit for actor Michael Jai White, who portrayed the anti-hero in a 1995 live action film, popped up on his IMDB page, however that listing has since been removed.
Boon and the folks at NetherRealm Studios will no doubt be rolling out more information as we approach Injustice 2’s May release date. In the meantime, enjoy 15 minutes of game play footage from an early build of the game courtesy of IGN.
