Nintendo highlighted the depth of play within ARMS that come from the combinations of the different characters, along with the various ARMS that can be equipped on each one.

Each character has their own unique traits and abilities, such as MinMin, who can deflect oncoming attacks with powerful kicks, or Springman, who gains an attack bonus if his health falls below 25%.

There will be multiple types of ARMS that players can carry into battle, such as standard glove types or multi-shot types. Some ARMS will also feature elemental attacks like fire, lightning, ice, etc. Each of the fighters can be loaded with two separate ARMS, which will heighten the strategy of the game.

In addition to the standard one-on-one matches that have been shown previously, ARMS will also feature a two-on-two free-for-all mode which is sure to get chaotic, and might be a surprise hit at social gatherings.

There will also be a single-player component to the game called Get ARMS. You’ll be able to complete challenges that will earn you in-game currency that can be used to purchase additional ARMS for your characters.

If ARMS‘ gameplay elements weren’t enough for you, Nintendo also showed off a couple of peripherals that will launch alongside the game.

A new neon yellow Joycon will be available, as well as a battery pack attachment that will extend the life of the detachable Nintendo Switch controllers.
