Sony brought a sack full of game trailers with them to their E3 2017 media event Monday evening. Most of them were pretty snazzy, but there was one glittering jewel that everyone was waiting to see: God of War.
First introduced at Sony’s E3 2016 conference last year, God of War has since gone radio silent; skipping PlayStation Experience this past December, and generally doing a good job of laying low.
We all know that Kratos can only lay low for so long, and Monday evening he shined brilliantly in a jaw-dropping cinematic trailer which you can rub your eyes on below.

The relationship between reluctant father and son looks to take center stage in this retooling of the God of War formula. While Kratos tries to instruct his child in the ways of the world, and how things like empathy and mercy can be detrimental to one’s chances of survival, his son tries to appeal to the humanity within Kratos; reminding him that his mother had taught him that there were good people in the world who would try to help you.
This conflict, if done well, will offer a fascinating dichotomy between Kratos and his young son, and at least provide an emotional connection for the player amidst all the ultra amazing violence that God of War will offer in its ridiculously juicy action scenes.
Sony is pegging God of War for an early 2018 release date on PlayStation 4.
