It’s cliche to make a reference about driving, or being on the road, or something along those lines when talking about Gran Turismo Sport, (or any driving game, for that matter) but let’s face facts: it’s been a long road of development for Sony’s flagship racing title.
That journey to completion is finally ready to be – well, completed. That’s because Gran Turismo Sport will be launching on PlayStation 4 on October 17th, 2017, according to an announcement on the official U.S. PlayStation Blog.
“We’ve strived to create something [Gran Turismo Sport] that delivers an unprecedented experience in terms of the graphics, sound, and physics simulation; an experience that can only be enjoyed on PlayStation” said Kazunori Yamauchi, the head of Polophony Digital, the game’s developer.
Gran Turismo Sport’s development has taken some major detour’s during its development history. The title was originally scheduled to launch in November of 2016, however, an indefinite delay was announced prior to that scheduled launch window.
A closed beta has been ongoing throughout 2017 to test the game’s numerous online modes, which will be a major focus for Gran Turismo Sport.
It’s also interesting to note that Gran Turismo Sport will be launching within weeks of Microsoft’s flagship racing title: Forza Motorsport 7, which will be arriving on the Xbox One family of consoles on October 3rd, 2017.
