NerdBacon’s Black Friday 2016 Sale Guide

There are three certainties that one can expect throughout the course of life:

Death

Taxes

And Black Friday.

It’s the beginning of November and that infamous day of sales madness known as Black Friday 2016 looms over the horizon like a great storm waiting to unleash its fury upon the earth.

There will be blood.

There will be carnage.

But most importantly: there will be great deals on video games, consoles, and related gear.

Lucky for you, NerdBacon is here to wade through the madness and bring you the best Black Friday 2016 deals from all the major outlets in one spot.

So sit back, relax, and bookmark this page because we will be updating it frequently with the latest Black Friday 2016 info as it arrives.

For the second year in a row, Dell has beaten all other outlets to the finish line; as far as being the first one to have their Black Friday ad leak.

For Black Friday 2016, Dell has an amazing deal on that sleek, sultry new Xbox One S.

You’ll be able to pick up the Xbox One S: Battlefield 1 bundle, along with the newly released Gears of War 4, AND an extra controller – for a paltry $249.99!

That’s $50 bucks off retail for the standard Xbox One S model, complete with two hot, recently released games.

I’m going to venture to say that this will be the best deal you see for the Xbox One S this year, so if you’re at all in the market for one make sure you jump on it.

Dell will be offering their deals as hourly doorbusters in-store and online kicking off at 6pm EST – midnight on Thanksgiving, and then resume at 8am EST – 8pm EST on Black Friday proper.

kohls-logo

One doesn’t normally associate Kohl’s with video games, however, the department mega-house does actually carry a stock of consoles, accessories, and a few games.

That’s a nice thing to know when you get tired of searching for a pair of pants.

For Black Friday 2016, Kohl’s will offer both the PlayStation 4 (with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End included) and the Minecraft version of the Xbox One S for $249.99. Anyone picking up one of these consoles will also pocket a cool $75 in Kohl’s cash, to help you buy some nifty trousers.

You can also score some discounts on extra Xbox One controllers ($49.99) and DualShock 4’s for $39.99.

Kohl’s will open at 6pm on Thanksgiving day.

Nintendo

Not to be outdone in the Black Friday 2016 madness is Nintendo, who announced that they will be cutting the price of their New Nintendo 3DS system to a measly $99.99!

Nintendo is even offering black and white Mushroom Kingdom special editions of the portable consoles as a way to commemorate the occasion.

The New Nintendo 3DS sale will be in effect across all retailers carrying Nintendo products, and is set to begin on Friday, November 25th.

n3ds black

Not a bad deal for anyone looking to play the new Pokemon Sun and Moon editions, which will be launching on the 3DS on November, 18th.

Shopping at Overstock.com should be a natural fit, considering we will all be overstocking ourselves with Turkey throughout Thanksgiving.

Luckily, they have a few tasty deals on the menu for Black Friday 2016, which just might be worth mustering enough strength in order to take a bite.

Overstock.com will be offering a couple of recent EA hits at a nice discount.

Both FIFA 17 for PS4 and the Xbox One version of Battlefield 1 will be on sale for $39.99. Both games were listed specifically for their aforementioned consoles, so I’m not sure if, for example, the PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 1 will be offered for the same price.

The Wii U version of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens can be nabbed for $19.99.

On the console side – Sony’s lovely Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End PlayStation 4 bundle will be on sale for $249 and Microsoft’s Xbox One S: Minecraft Edition will be the standard $299.

Overstock.com hasn’t announced a time for their sale to begin, so you’ll likely be able to start getting your deals on Thanksgiving morning.

You can always count on Target to have a few decent Black Friday deals, and this year is no different.

Target will officially open their doors at 6pm on Thanksgiving day, however, intrepid online bargain hunters can lock-on to a few deals early. You’ll be able to catch all of Target’s Black Friday 2016 deals through their website starting on Thanksgiving morning. November 23rd will be their Black Friday pre-sale, featuring online and in-store deals all day.

Now let’s look at the gaming deals.

By now, you’ve probably figured out that PlayStation 4’s and Xbox One’s are going to be offered at $249.99 across all of the major retailers.

Target is no different – They have the Xbox One S, with either Battlefield 1 or Minecraft for $249, plus you also receive a $50 Target gift card with purchase.

You can also nab the PlayStation 4 Uncharted 4 bundle for $249, although there is no mention in the ad of a free gift card with purchase.

Hot new games like Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, FIFA 17, Madden 17, Destiny: The Collection, Mafia III, Gears of War 4, and more will be on sale for $39.99

A number of recent hits, including: Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Overwatch, WWE 2K17, NHL 17, Rise of the Tomb Raider: Anniversary Edition, Pokken Tournament, and Super Mario Maker will be on sale for $35. Mario Maker and Pokken Tournement are notable, as Nintendo first-party games rarely go on sale.

We also have $25 copies of Doom, Dragonball Z Xenoverse 2, Battleborn, No Man’s Sky, The Division, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided available.

There are also $25 copies of Super Smash Bros, Kirby: Planet Robobot, Pokemon Blue Sapphire and Pokemon X for Nintendo 3DS.

$15 can get you Street Fighter V, Far Cry Primal, Ratchet and Clank, ReCore, Bloodborne, Fallout 4, and a few others too.

$8 American dollars is all you need to get your hands on Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, the original Watchdogs, and “dozens more“.

Target is also offering 10% off all gaming cards on Black Friday as well.

Here’s what they have to offer:

Best Buy is often the big kahuna of Black Friday madness.

This year Best Buy will begin their Black Friday 2016 by opening their stores at 5pm on Thanksgiving, while online shoppers will be able to actually digest their food while shopping from the comfort of their own home. They also have some deals classified as doorbusters, which will go on sale on Friday at 8am.

Let’s see what they have for Black Friday 2016:

Best Buy has the best deal I’ve seen so far on the Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 bundle!

You can get the new slim PlayStation 4, with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End + they will even throw in the new Ratchet and Clank AND The Last of Us: Remastered, all for $249!

They also have the Xbox One S Minecraft or Battlefield 1 bundles for $249. Anyone who purchases an Xbox One S from Best Buy during their Black Friday 2016 sale will also get an extra controller for free!

Extra controllers for both PS4 and Xbox One are on sale for $39.99.

Now for the games.

One important thing to remember about Best Buy this year is that their normally AWESOME Gamer’s Club Unlocked discount program (20% off of all new games) does NOT work for games advertised in the Black Friday ad. It’s a real bummer.

Overwatch and Titanfall 2 are available for $34.99, along with Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Both of these deals are sitting next to a large notice about Friday 8am doorbusters, so It’s not entirely clear if that is in reference to these games, or if it is just a general placement. So if you’re interested in these 3, I would check online on Thursday first.

$29.99 is all you need to pay for a plethora of titles, including: Madden 17, NBA 2K17, FIFA 17, Battlefield 1, Gears of War 4, Grand Theft Auto V, Mafia III, Bioshock Collection, WWE 2K17, Deus EX: Mankind Divided, and probably more that I’m forgetting at the moment.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim HD, The Division, Fire Emblem: Fates, No Man’s Sky, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, and Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete are all at $24.99.

On the $19.99 end we have: Fallout 4, Rainbow Sis: Siege, ReCore, Mortal Kombat XL, Star Wars Battlefront, Dark Souls III, Street Fighter V, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, Bravely Second, Pokemon X and Y editions, and Doom.

$14.99 is all it takes to go home with: Last of Us: Remastered, Until Dawn, Bloodborne, Little Big Planet 3,God of War III: HD, Ratchet and Clank, MLB: The Show 16, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection, Far Cry Primal, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Battleborn, Gears of War: Ultimate, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, Mad Max, and more.

Best Buy also has buy 2, get 1 free on all of their used games.

GameStop might be the only store left that actually waits until Black Friday to open their doors. For that, they deserve a lot of respect, as it’s a bit disheartening to see so many retailers encroach upon the actual holiday, and the meaning of Thanksgiving.

Once the actual morning of Black Friday 2016 arrives, GameStop will be open bright and early at 5am to greet the turkey-laden hoard. If you absolutely can’t wait until Friday morning, or the thought of being out in public that early is repugnant (and I don’t blame you if that’s the case) then you can shop online all day on Thanksgiving from the comfort of your abode.

This year, GameStop has a PlayStation 4 deal almost as good as Best Buy’s

You can get the nifty PS4 Uncharted 4 bundle, plus your choice of either Last of Us: Remastered, or Ratchet and Clank for $249. (Best Buy’s ad says they are giving both of those two games away with the purchase of a system)

A slick, blue Xbox One S Gears of War 4 bundle is also on sale for $249. If you’d rather have something more family friendly, then you can grab the Xbox One S Minecraft bundle for the same price.

If you’re looking for something a bit different for your living room you could pick up a Steam Machine.

The Alienware i7, with 1TB of memory and a DeForce GTX 2GB GDDR5 can be yours for $374.99. – The smaller i3 model with 500GB hard drive is $224.99.

Here are the game deals you can expect:

$39.99 will see: Battlefield 1, Mafia III, Titanfall 2, Madden 17, FIFA 17, NHL 17, WWE 2K17, DQ Builders, and World of Final Fantasy, among others.

34.99 deals include: Overwatch (with a free Baby Winston figure. WOW!) Gears of War 4, Grand Theft Auto V, and Destiny: The Collection.

Let’s talk games that will sell for $29.99: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim HD, Xccom 2, Witcher 3: Complete Edition, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Batman: Return to Arkham.

Among the games for $19.99: Mortal Kombat XL, Doom, Rainbow Six: Siege, Dark Souls III, ReCore, Just Cause 3, Fallout 4, and No Man’s Sky.

Batman: The Telltale Series will run you $14.99.

$9.99 will be the price for: Last of Us: Remastered, Ratchet and Clank, Batman: Arkham Knight, Mad Max, Star Wars Battlefront, DQ Heroes, and Battleborn. (poor Battleborn)

GameStop will also be running a 3 for $20 deal on a wide selection of used titles.
