Nintendo has debuted a new arena-style sports game for the Nintendo 3DS entitled Blast Ball, tonight at the Nintendo World Championships.
Players pilot a special mechanized robot in order to force a large ball, aptly named the Blast Ball (Hey, that’s the title of the game!) into their opponents goal, in a sort-of robotic version of soccer. Once a point is scored, your opponents goal shrinks, thus making it more difficult for a team to become dominant.
Power-ups and special abilities serve to spice up the action in Blast Ball, as players compete in a 3 on 3 contest which looked somewhat reminiscent of Metroid Prime: Hunters.
Nintendo did not give out any release info for Blast Ball during the fierce competition, however we expect they will divulge further details once E3 2015 kicks off this week. Nintendo will reveal their plans during a special Nintendo Direct presentation, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16th at 12PM EDT.
