The fact that the renowned maestros of action games, Platinum Games’ next project will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been, perhaps, the worst kept secret in all of video games. However, solid details about the project have somehow managed to remain elusive.
Luckily, the veil of secrecy is finally starting to lift. Tonight, we have our first look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, in all of its glory.
The trailer’s release comes ahead of what is being described as an “official leak” of details regarding the upcoming game that is scheduled to drop tomorrow, (January 26th) although we do have quite a bit of information on the game thanks to the Xbox Live Marketplace overview.
Platinum Games will be turning writing duties over to Tom Waltz, the author behind the Turtles IDW comic series. Players will be able to take control of all four Turtles, in the fast-paced action style we’ve come to expect from Platinum. The game will also feature four-player, online co-op mode, so you, your friends, or complete strangers can all join forces to defeat the evil Foot Clan.
A new website for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan has gone live this evening, along with pages on social media platforms Twitter and Facebook.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan will not be the first foray into a nostalgic property for Platinum. Their last effort, Transformers: Devastation released in the fall of last year, and was reviewed right here by NerdBacon.
No release date beyond Summer 2016 has been given for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, however it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the game to launch around the same time as the upcoming movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which is slated for a June 3rd 2016 theatrical release.
Gaming fans will have ample opportunities to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, as it is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
