Darksiders 3 Announced!

Today is an exciting day for fans of the Darksiders franchise.  Darksiders 3 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018.  IGN broke the news today along with a new announcement trailer.  Gunfire Games is developing the latest game in the franchise after the previous two installments were developed by Vigil Games.

For those who are not aware, Vigil Games was closed in January of 2013 after its parent company THQ filed for bankruptcy and was shut down as a result.   Most of THQ’s assets and properties were auctioned off, including the Darksiders franchise which was then snatched up by Nordic Games.

While specific developers have not been mentioned, IGN does report that several of the former Vigil Games employees that worked on the first two Darksiders games are now on staff at Gunfire Games and are working on Darksiders 3.  Gunfire Games does have previous experience with the franchise as they are the team responsible for both of the first two games’ “remastered” versions, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition.

Darksiders 3 will have players taking control of new character, Fury, and her quest to destroy the Seven Deadly Sins.  The Seven Deadly Sins stem from religious origins, stating that there are seven sins all humans are tempted by throughout their lives.  The Seven Deadly Sins are Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Envy, Pride, Sloth, and Wrath.  Darksiders 3 is rumored to be set during the same time period as Darksiders 2.

What are your thoughts on Darksiders 3 announcement?  Are you excited to play as Fury and take on the Seven Deadly Sins?  Which sin do you think will be the most intimidating?  Share your thoughts with us below!
