The Elder Scrolls is coming back to mobile for the first time since 2006’s Oblivion Mobile, this fall! Unveiled at Bethesda’s E3 2018 conference, The Elder Scrolls: Blades is a new Elder Scrolls experience with console-level graphics, similar to the cancelled PSP port of Oblivion, that gamers can enjoy anywhere.
Blades will feature touch controls that follow the player’s “specific moves and timings” and is fully playable in both landscape and one-handed portrait mode, Players will also have a range of spells and other abilities to use including their melee weapons.
During the short reveal trailer, Todd Howard gave us a short description of the story, “You are a member of the Blades, the Empire’s top agents. Forced into exile, you return home to find your town destroyed and need to rebuild it.”
The aforementioned Town is one of at least three game modes shown during the presentation, and will serve as the player’s HUB area featuring some sort of town building mode, which can in some way be upgraded. The two other modes shown included Arena, a one-on-one PvP mode, and Abyss, a roguelike never-ending dungeon. In addition to dungeons, outdoor areas were also shown, but it was not explained how these areas will be accessed.
Blades‘ protagonist, as has become the standard for the Elder Scrolls series, will be fully customizable, and have an array of weapons and armor to choose from. From the footage shown at during the reveal, it also appears that the weapon and armor condition, which has been absent from the series since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
According to Todd Howard, “his dream” is to, in the future, bring The Elder Scrolls: Blades to all consoles and eventually VR, all with cross-play. For now, gamers can check out the full reveal below and pre-register to play The Elder Scrolls: Blades when it hits the Google Play and Apple App Stores this Fall.
