Today was a big day for Far Cry 5. Ubisoft released several new trailers for the game as well as announcing the game’s release date. Far Cry 5 is set to launch on February 27th, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s also worth noting that Ubisoft said Far Cry 5 will take advantage of the Playstation 4 Pro and Microsoft’s Project Scorpio.
The game is being developed primarily by Ubisoft Montreal, but other Ubisoft studios are assisting with the game as well.
The official Far Cry 5 website has launched and provides a brief glimpse into the game’s setting and basic plot.
“Welcome to Hope County, Montana, land of the free and the brave, but also home to a fanatical doomsday cult known as The Project at Eden’s Gate that is threatening the community’s freedom. Stand up to the cult’s leader, Joseph Seed and the Heralds, and spark the fires of resistance that will liberate the besieged community.
In this expansive world, your limits and creativity will be tested against the biggest and most ruthless baddest enemy Far Cry has ever seen. It’ll be wild and it’ll get weird, but as long as you keep your wits about you, the residents of Hope County can rest assured knowing you’re their beacon of hope.”
In addition to the announcement trailer Ubisoft released three different character trailers as well. The trailers below are for Nick Rye, Mary May, and Pastor Jerome Jeffries who are all characters fighting for “The Resistance” in Far Cry 5.
Players can create their own character in Far Cry 5 that will serve as the protagonists. The protagonist is a junior deputy of Hope County and players will find themselves in the middle of violent conflict between The Resistance and a cult known as Eden’s Gate. Players can play through the game solo or in two player co-op. Far Cry 5 is another open world adventure where players will be able to hire other characters for help, drive vehicles, fly airplanes, engage in gunplay, and more.
