South Park creator’s Matt Stone and Trey Parker were on-hand at Ubisoft’s E3 2016 press event to show off their latest masterpiece, South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
The sequel to the 2014 RPG satire, South Park: The Stick of Truth, will be released on December 6th, 2016.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole builds upon the solid foundation laid down by its predecessor.
The game picks up in the wake of the events in the Stick of Truth. Tired of playing their Game of Thrones inspired fantasy make believe, the boys have decided to ditch dragons and knights, and play super heroes instead.
A dispute concerning what direction their super hero movie franchise should take tears their alliance apart, thus forcing two factions to battle each other in an epic, super hero civil war.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will feature an expanded class system for your created character. You will now have up to 12 basic classes from which to choose, which can then be tweaked and modified with a number of sub classes.
Combat has also been expanded. The previous title took its inspiration from classic RPG’s like Final Fantasy, with the South Park alum engaging their foes in static, turn-based battles.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole still features turn based battles, however spacing through a tile-based movement system will now play an essential role in those fights.
Epic farts that rip apart the fabric of time will also play a part in the revamped battle system. These powerful farts prove to be so potent, that they shake up the turn order during combat.
Ubisoft announced a nice little bonus for those already to pre-order the game.
Anyone who pre-orders South Park: The Fractured But Whole will receive a free digital copy of South Park: Stick of Truth for either PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC.
