The lines between what we see in the real-world versus the visuals found in games continue to blur with each successive hardware generation, and this 8th generation has been no different.
EA’s new Need for Speed title can easily be mistaken for footage that was actually filmed in real-life. In fact, I initially thought that two mechanic characters featured in this brand-new Need for Speed footage were actually real actors, however a friend who I was text messaging at the time quickly disputed me, thinking that they were virtual actors. I’ve re-watched the footage from Need for Speed and I think I have myself convinced, however when it switches to the actual racing portion, the game looks so good that I had to second-guess myself before definitively answer the question that yes, they were actually real actors.
The rest of the new pre-alpha footage from Need for Speed utilizes the latest revision of EA’s proprietary Frostbite engine to create stunningly realistic visuals that will be sure to have passers-by doing a double-take, and you maybe questioning reality a little.
Need for Speed is coming out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 3rd, 2015.
