No one said that becoming a legend would be easy.
Lara Croft’s path to becoming the legend she was born to be has certainly not been a cakewalk. She’s survived a blood thirsty island cult, as well as a shadowy organization looking to harness eternal life.
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara will face her biggest challenges yet: stopping an ancient Mayan apocalypse from destroying civilization, and herself.
New gameplay footage of Shadow of the Tomb Raider shown off during Square Enix’s E3 2018 presentation Monday depicts a more mature and focused evolution of Lara Croft. Gone is the terrorized heavy breathing that underscored her introduction to survival in the first two titles. She’s now much more cunning: not afraid to use the element of surprise to ruthlessly dispatch her foes.
The jungle environment in which she finds herself during this latest adventure will play an essential part in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The way Lara expertly conceals herself among the trees and foliage and uses the environment to create an advantage for herself makes Shadow of the Tomb Raider appear almost like a spiritual successor to a Metal Gear Solid title.
We won’t have to wait too much longer to witness the conclusion of the Tomb Raider prequel trilogy. Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 14th, 2018.
