Released back in December 2012 in Japan, Level 5’s 3DS title Fantasy Life is finally coming to North America on October 24th. Fantasy Life is an open world game by Level 5, the company behind beloved titles like Dark Cloud, Professor Layton, and Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The gameplay is a mix between the life/town simulation from Animal Crossing and the RPG elements (as well as composer Nobuo Uematsu and artist Yoshitaka Amano) from the Final Fantasy series. Long have fans of both genres awaited a Western release of this game.
The game features 12 “Life classes” (essentially the Job system) that include many different roles for fighting, gathering, and crafting and these can be swapped on the fly. There are multiple towns in the game’s large open world, and you can own a home in any of them and decorate it as you see fit with items earned from questing and defeating monsters. This customization, something many would say JRPGs lack, is one of the game’s core features. Nintendo’s new trailer shows off just how battling, collecting, and creating works in Fantasy Life.
