Mega Man Legacy Collection Blasts Its Way Onto Platforms This Summer

This morning Capcom announced Mega Man Legacy Collection, a compilation of the first six games in the legendary Mega Man series that will be released digitally this summer for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and later in the winter for Nintendo 3DS.

MMLC_screens_MM2_AirMega Man Legacy Collection will feature HD reproductions of the original six Mega Man games, first released on the NES throughout the late 80’s and early 90’s, and will include a number of new features, such as:

  • Museum Mode – Features a number of high-res art and concept art pieces spanning the history of the Mega Man series.
  • Remix Mode – Remixes elements of all six games into a number of new challenges that grow in difficulty. This mode also provides a tutorial to teach series newbies how to conquer some of the more legendary challenges players can face in the adventures of the Blue Bomber.
  • Leaderboards and Video Replays – Immortalize your most legendary mega-moments with the video replays of the top performers on the Mega Man Legacy Collection leaderboards.
Beautiful high-res artwork and concept pieces will be a part of the Mega Man Legacy Collection.

Capcom also noted that the Mega Man Legacy Collection will make use of a new engine developed by Digital Eclipse in order to faithfully reproduce the original six titles on current-gen systems.

Mega Man Legacy Collection will actually mark the second time that the six original NES releases have been packages together. They originally appeared together in the release of Mega Man Collection, which was released for Nintendo GameCube and PlayStaion 2 in 2004.

No official release date has been announced beyond “Summer 2015” for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions of Mega Man Legacy Collection. The Nintendo 3DS version will hit later in the “Winter,” however it was not clear if that means 2015 or later into early 2016. All versions of the game will retail for $14.99.

Capcom will undoubtedly share more details on Mega Man Legacy Collection, along with the rest of their lineup once E3 2015 kicks off next week.
