Is Microsoft About to Dig Up Minecraft?

Microsoft is apparently in talks to purchase Mojang, the Swedish developer behind the insanely popular Minecraft series, according to an article by the Wall Street Journal.

The article cites an unnamed source with “knowledge of the matter” who did not want to go on the record to the publication.

The Minecraft developer is rumored to be worth close to $2 billion and would ensure that Microsoft platforms, such as the Xbox One would become the exclusive home for Minecraft.

Minecraft was initially released in 2011 on PC, and has gone on to sell 54 million copies across almost every platform under the sun.

Neither Microsoft or Mojang have commented on the rumored deal.
