Microsoft Unveils Two New Xbox One Revisions – Xbox One S And Xbox One: Project Scorpio – E3 2016

Microsoft has book-ended their E3 2016 press events with announcements of their long-rumored updates to the Xbox One Hardware.

The first announcement was the confirmation that we broke yesterday. A slimmer, more streamlined version of the Xbox One is on the verge of hitting the market. The Xbox One S will be 40 % smaller, allow 4K resolution, have an internal power supply, and a 2TB hard drive. The device will also ship with a redesigned Xbox One Controller, with a textured grip.

The Xbox One S will be released in August for $299.

The second update Xbox One will be the expanded, more powerful version of the hardware, called Xbox Box One: Project Scorpio.

Microsoft is designing the Xbox One: Project Scorpio to be the most powerful console ever developed.

The new console will have a 6 tera-flop processor, capable of rendering fully uncompressed textures. Xbox One: Scorpio will also have a 320gb per second bandwidth.

Microsoft head, Phil Spencer noted that Microsoft Xbox One games will all share the same eco-system, so games designed to run on Xbox One: Project Scorpio will also be able to run, albeit at a lower resolution, on both the original Xbox One, as well as the Xbox One S.

The Xbox One: Project Scorpio is expected to launch during the holiday season in 2017.

What do you think of the new Xbox One hardware announcements? Are you going to grab a snazzy Xbox One S, or are you going to hold out for the beastly Xbox One: Project Scorpio? Let us know in the comments section below.
