New screenshots have been released from the upcoming World of Final Fantasy that showcase just how beautiful and adorable the characters and world will be. Featuring fan favorite protagonists, locations, summons and monsters from the legendary Final Fantasy series, World of Final Fantasy aims to be an introductory experience to those new to the series, as well as an entire game worth of fanservice for those who have played through Square Enix’s JRPG blockbusters.

Shiva, Ramuh, and Ifrit looking quite badass even in their new cartoonish forms.

Main characters Reynn and Lann will be assisted by “mirages” (creatures and characters from past FF games) who can be a big help in battle, and will also play important roles in the story of World of Final Fantasy. The reason you’ll see Reynn and Lann appear in both a Kingdom Hearts-esque style as well as complete dwarf chibi mode is a battle mechanic that allows you to stack party members on top of each other for stat boosts and special attacks. I’m sure the chibi transformation and stacking will have some truly whimsical and ridiculous explanation in the game’s plot, but I’m mainly just excited to see Cloud standing on a chocobo’s head, who’s standing on top of a moogle struggling to keep them all upright.

Franchise staples Behemoth and Ahriman stare each other down.

First time FF players and series superfans can get their hands on the tactical size swapping, character stacking tribute to the least “final” franchise in video games in 2016 for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation Vita. Stay tuned to Nerd Bacon until release for more news and more adorable photos of tiny chocobos, moogles, and ultra-cute hellfire demon Ifrit.
