News and Notes from the January Nintendo Indie Showcase

Earlier today, Nintendo Europe unveiled a new Nintendo Indie Showcase The presentation reveals a number of new indie games heading to the Nintendo Switch throughout 2019.

Perhaps the biggest announcement shown within the video is Wargroove‘s release date. Fans have waited for a long time to see Wargroove on the Switch, and now the wait is nearly over, as Nintendo and Chucklefish announced that Wargroove is set to be released on February 1, 2019.

The title I’m personally the most excited about is SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, the latest title from Image and Form Games’ SteamWorld series. In an interesting twist, it appears to be a card-based roguelike battle game, similar to Slay the Spire. This may come as a coincidence, as Slay the Spire has been released from early access earlier today.
