Pokkén Tournament DX Announced for Nintendo Switch

That is correct – Pokémon is coming to the Nintendo Switch! However, it probably isn’t the Pokémon game you wanted. During Nintendo’s Pokémon Direct on Tuesday, Nintendo announced that they would be bringing a deluxe port of the Wii U title Pokkén Tournament to the Nintendo Switch. The deluxe Switch version of Pokkén Tournament will be released on September 22nd, 2017.

The port, titled Pokkén Tournament DX, will have the entire roster of fighters as the previous game, with the addition of five new ones. The new characters being added are Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk, and Decidueye. In addition to these new characters, the deluxe version will include 3 vs 3 battles, ranked matches, and group matches. Furthermore, players will now have the ability to play the game either docked or in tablet mode, and multiplayer can be enjoyed with each player using one Joy-Con.

For more information regarding Pokkén Tournament DX, Nintendo will be hosting a tournament of the game at E3, as well as streaming gameplay during their Treehouse Live presentation. The trailer for Pokkén Tournament DX can be seen down below, as well as a sneak peak for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, two upcoming games for the 3DS.
