In my opinion easily one of the best made emulators period. Very high compatibility, ease of use, and low processing requirements.

Go to project64.com and download the most recent binary.

Open the program and configure your controls since the audio and graphics are preconfigured. Click the button you want to bind and then press the key you want to bind it to. I have my configuration in the pic.

Grab some games
Formats:
.zip
.?64 [?=any letter] .rom

You can do 2 things to start games
File – open rom — and then find the game in the browser
or
File – choose rom directory — and select the folder your games are in so they show up in project 64.

Keyborad shortcuts while playing
F1 – reset game
F2 – Pause/Resume
F3 – Screen capture
F4 – Unlimit the frames per second (fps)
F5 – save state
F7 – Load save state

All of these can be accessed in the system menu along with other save state slots you can select.
Cheats can also be accessed in the system menu.
