No major details regarding the long rumored HD remaster have been announced as of yet, other than the fact that Shenmue I & II will be released in 2018, and that the compilation will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Shenmue was originally released in the fall of 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. It was an epic, complex, and ambitious title that served as sort of a precursor to the sandbox, open world gameplay that would revolutionize the video game industry throughout the early 2000’s. It also served as a grandiose swan song for Sega’s final console.
The HD remaster of Shenmue I and II will serve as a nice reminder for fans and newcomers in the lead up to the release of Shenmue III, which was announced at E3 2015, which has been in development by series creator Yu Suzuki.
