Sizzle Reel LIVE – Radical Heights

Sizzle Reel is a feature from NerdBacon.com where our esteemed staff shows off unedited gameplay, allowing all of you to see what exactly the title has to offer. Sometimes live, sometimes recorded, always entertaining and informative (or as much as we can be).

The “Battle Royale” genre is the hottest thing in gaming right now, Drake deemed it so. It makes sense for developers to get in on the parachuting, scavenging stream-fest! Enter Radical Heights from Boss Key Productions, yes, Cliff Blezinski’s studio whose most recent project was the now-all-but-abandoned LawBreakers.

Radical Heights looks to generate its own spin on the genre with the concept of persistent cash, BMX transportation and a striking 80’s/90’s vibe.

This video was recorded LIVE when the game launched into “X-Treme Early Access” on Steam on April 10th. Check it out:

Radical Heights has some interesting concepts. As someone who was born in the 80’s and was a child of the 90’s, this aesthetic is always welcome when done right, a la Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. I can see me putting some more time into this.

However, the game still has a long way to go; textures need to exist, the audio needs to be fully realized and overall the entire game just needs more character. Hey, it’s in Early Access so that stuff will come in time, so I am not judging this game or faulting it for what’s not there yet, but it will be very interesting to keep an eye on it during the coming weeks and months to see if the game can hang with the “big boys” in the genre.
