Square Enix gave the gaming world its first mega-ton game announcement of 2017!
The publisher announced a partnership with Marvel Studios to produce a number of new games Thursday morning, the first of which will be a game based on the insanely popular Avengers.
A minute-long teaser for the Avengers game, currently known as the Avengers Project, was shown on the company’s Twitter page.
Intriguingly, the Avengers Project is being developed by a collaboration between Eidos Montreal, of Deus EX fame, and Crystal Dynamics – the same crew responsible for the fantastic 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and its’ sequel: Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Square Enix did not disclose the exact number of games they will be producing for Marvel Studios beyond the initial Avengers Project, nor did they give a projected release date for the new game, beyond a general 2018 time-frame.
A press release from Square Enix that accompanied Thursday’s announcement confirmed that the Avengers Project will feature a “completely original story”, and will “introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.”
Be sure to check out the teaser trailer down below, and keep your fingers crossed that we’ll see a bit more of the Avengers Project at this year’s E3 event.
