21st Street Games’ 2010 side-scrolling mobile title Techno Kitten Adventure is a very interesting game that I have been playing for quite some time. Techno Kitten Adventure plays very similarly to iCopter (the famous helicopter flash game with the green cave) and has a big focus on its techno soundtrack. While Techno Kitten Adventure is free on the iOS devices, it does have in-app purchases that can be bought to play on the 6 different levels in the game. I do own all these in-app purchases, so this review represents them as well.

As aforementioned, Techno Kitten Adventure plays very similarly to iCopter in the sense that you a cat flying through a limited area and must avoid crashing into the stars by holding, releasing, and tapping the screen. You can also play in “giro mode,” which will change the controls to tilting the device towards and away from the player to control the cat. The biggest difference between Techno Kitten Adventure and iCopter is the fact that there are tons of harmless things in the background to distract you while playing the former and the music can also be quite distracting. Each world or level in the game has from 3 to 5 cats that you can unlock by playing, and you unlock these cats from getting a certain amount of points ranging from 20,000 to 80,000. In order to receive points, you must survive and go a certain distance when playing the game. The gameplay of Techno Kitten Adventure is very fun and possibly even addictive. The game is also improved immensely if you have friends to compare top scores with.

The soundtrack of Techno Kitten Adventure is amazing and it fits the game perfectly as the levels are built around it. The distractions in the different levels are built to match up with the music and that makes the game much more intense and enjoyable. I am however disappointed that the Nyan Cat level doesn’t have the original Nyan Cat music. The developers of Techno Kitten Adventure obviously had the rights to Nyan Cat, so why didn’t they have the rights to the Nyan Cat song? The lack of the Nyan Cat music is a very small complaint and it is probably the only complaint I have with the game at all.

The different levels in Techno Kitten Adventure are all interesting to look at and play, and the different music makes them enjoyable and not repetitive. Each level has a different main distraction (flipping screen, shaking screen, etc.) as well as different distractions in the background. There are also different cats per level and the cats are designed to fit in with the level. Personally, I find the game fun enough to warrant buying the in-app purchases and I do recommend them if you like the game as they add levels, cats, and more music.

Techno Kitten Adventure is very enjoyable and I highly recommend it to people who are a fan of platformer-esque titles like iCopter. The music in the game sounds amazing and you can tell that they worked very hard to make the levels feel like different levels and not repetitive. While I am not sure if it is available to purchase or not, I would love to have the soundtrack of this game on my music devices so I could listen to the soundtrack while not playing the game. As previously mentioned, my major and only complaint is that the Nyan Cat level doesn’t have the original music, which I was a big fan of.
