Town of Salem “The Coven” Expansion Announced

On May 16th, 2017, BlankMediaGames announced a new expansion coming to the free-to-play strategy game Town of Salem. The expansion, titled Town of Salem: The Coven, will be adding fifteen new playable roles, a new faction, exclusive queues, rotating game modes, and tons of other improvements to the base game.

The new faction added, the Coven, will contain witches with six roles, including the original witch role currently in the game. The original witch role will now be the coven leader. The other roles being added for the faction are; the hex master, poisoner, potion master, medusa, and necromancer.

The town will be receiving four new roles; the crusader, the tracker, the trapper, and the psychic. The mafia will be receiving two new roles; the ambusher and the hypnotist. There will also be three new neutral roles; the guardian angel, the pirate, and the plaguebearer.

There will be three new rotating game modes added to the game as well. The first game mode will be VIP, which is where the Town faction must protect the VIP, while the Coven tries to kill the VIP. The second game mode will be the Lovers game mode, where you will be linked to another player (whom will be your ‘lover’) and if they die, you die as well. This mode forces you to question even confirmed teammates because you and your lover have to be the last people alive. The final game mode will be Rivals, which is where you will be linked to another player (whom will be your rival) and your goal is to make sure they do not survive.

This expansion will be available for purchase in early June, and will only be on Steam on release. BlankMediaGames will be working on making it available in the browser version of Town of Salem, as well as the mobile app store versions. The expansion will cost $10, but will only cost $5 for people who opted to pay $5 previously to get the paid Steam version of Town of Salem. The public testing of the new expansion has already started and can be accessed here.
