If you’re reading this page you’re probably an avid videogamer, blogger, or just some curious internet slave who has an itchy index finger and likes to browse and browse with little to no thought as to what the hell you’re doing.  No matter who you are, I commend 2011-06-06_17-24-41_241you for the efforts you put forth that brought you to mine and The Cubist’s website.  The 2 of us have been working feverishly day and night to get this thing right. In all honesty, it probably gets about 20 hours of attention a day between the 2 of us. Recently I started a new job that has me working power washing houses and commercial properties from 7am to 5pm M-F. $$$$$ But it’s not so bad. I get weekends off and occasionally the weather is too bad for any cleaning so I either don’t have to work that day or I get to come home early and bang out some Nerd Bacon stuff (too many emails! Not enough gaming time!).

It all started with my neighbor, Giant Metal Zorio.  He had the Sega Genesis before anyone, and that thing was awesome. Couldn’t get enough of it.  Then him and his brother got a PlayStation in 1995 or 1996.   We played Jet Moto nonstop for days and days, along with Tekken, Final Fantasy VII, Jet Moto 2, Abe’s Oddworld Odyssey, Tomb Raider, Time Crisis 1&2, and many other great hits.  I was always an active outdoorsmen and an athlete growing up, but somehow I always found a way to devote time to video games, movies, and music.

My collection began in 1991 when my parents got my sister a Game Boy.  She got Super Mario Land and I got Tetris.  This would lead me to love puzzle games, such as Chip’s Challenge, Dr. Mario, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, and Crystal Mines II.  As I got older I found myself working away JUST to make enough money so that my friend Tyler and I could race each other to Goodwill to find cheap games and cheap systems.  And find cheap systems we did.  We also built a good rapport with the shady feller who owned Buy Rite Video Games in Mini City in North Raleigh.  He was shady, and kind of a douche, but he recognized our great efforts as we would drive 20 miles just to browse some obscure pieces of video game history and build up a collection of games faster than we had the time to play them. There are plenty of great places to find games currently! <- Click to see a full review.

Upon graduating high school, my immediate focus was to spend time with friends, work full-time, and go to school full-time, so my game collecting took a solid break for about 6 years.  6 years later I found the ability to do all of that (yes, I was still in college… WHAT A BUM!).  So the collecting has resumed, but on a much smaller scale as I now have adult responsibilities, and I really don’t drink as much as I used to, which is good.  I lived in Wilmington, NC for a solid 5 years, almost 3 years living with my crazy beer chugging, dip chewing, surfingass Craigslist roommate friend who pretty much sucked at every game ever, but he friggin’ rocked and we often got down on some Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country 3, and Mario Kart Double Dash!! whenever we were feelin’ groovy.

Building this website was sort of a dream come true for me.  I have all these games but little to no way of showing them off.  I wanted to build a website but I found myself sort of on the “screwed” side because I didn’t know anything about building a website.  Thanks to The Cubist, I’ve been able to really spread my Kid Icarus wings and visit some classic gaming that has long been neglected in my attics, basements, and storage units for the last 5 years.  I’m pleased with the outcome so far and we just recently hit our 500th published article (March, 2014).

My personal favorite games typically reside in the Sega Genesis category, with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, Sonic & Knuckles, Shinobi 3Buster’s Hidden Treasure, Knuckle’s Chaotix, Flink, and Ristar taking the strongest leads above the other games.  Other personal favorites are Chip’s Challenge & Klax for the Atari Lynx, Sonic 3D Blast for the Saturn, WWF Rage in the Cage for the Sega CD, Super Mario 64, Super Monkey Ball for the GameCube, and all Super Smash Bros. games (I actually played some 4 player mayhem Nintendo 64 Smash battles for a couple hours at the NC State Rugby team’s party house about 2 years ago. It was epic).  Portal 2 on the Xbox 360 is a friggin’ brilliant game!  And I’m always down to tear through some FIFA games with my buddies and old roommates, and I recently just purchased FIFA ’14! I know I’m late to the party, but I’ve been so entrenched in power washing houses and playing 20 year old games that it took me 8 months to get it!

Stay with us for a while.  We’re going to be uploading reviews on a daily basis, but we’ll definitely be trying to come up with some unique ideas to get you the information you want, need, can’t wait to have, have to have, etc… You’ll get it. We’re gonna give it to you.  Because after all, you love bacon, and we have the frying pan.

In addition to all of my games, I own about 400+ movies (all genres except Anime, which I could just never get into!), and maybe 600+ music albums (records, cassettes, 8-tracks, and CDs). I’m a bit of a videophile and audiophile.
