Steroid Gamer
Hi, I’m Steroid Gamer, or Sean, and welcome to Nerd Bacon! If you decide to stick around, and I really think you should, you’ll find we have a great site filled with even greater people. You may be asking yourself, “What the hell is Nerd Bacon? Who the hell is this Steroid Gamer guy? What the hell brought me to this site? Why is everything so dark? Where did I park my car?” Well, hopefully I can answer some of those questions for you. I started working for Nerd Bacon in June of 2014 and have been writing reviews and helping contribute to the site ever since. And now……drum roll…….I’m an AUTHOR!!!
That’s awesome for me right, but what the hell does that mean for you? Well, you (the reader) are the purpose of my job. I’m here to right articles, reviews, blogs and work on other projects to entertain you. So this page and the whole site in general, and what YOU think about it is very important to me. If I’m not delivering the content you desire than tell me. If you love what I’m writing let me know that as well! Who doesn’t love a good compliment?! Also, feel free to ask me any question you want. Whether it’s about Nerd Bacon.com itself, something regarding one of my reviews, general questions about video games, or even if you want to know how to bake a cake, go ahead and ask. Seriously. Shoot me an email; SteroidGamer@butthole.nerdbacon.com. I’ll do my upmost diligence to give you the best answer possible. Unless you are smelly, ugly, have a huge nose and warts. Basically, I don’t talk to trolls. It just ends up being quite messy and someone leaves feeling ashamed.
So, if you’ve read this far I guess you’re really interested in me huh? Okay, I’ll cut out the cheesy jokes and get strait to the meat. My first video game system was the Nintendo 64 in 1998 and it came with a copy of Mario Kart 64. It was a gift both myself and older sister received from our parents as a Christmas present. Little did I know how much that one gift was going to change my life forever. As I got older, I continued to play more and more games, purchase new consoles, and have some really kick ass memories along the way. I will be 100% honest with you though, my first two consoles, the N64 and Nintendo GameCube, aren’t the prettiest of gaming collections. I hate to admit it, but at the time those consoles where in their primes, I bought all the games that where heavily marketed towards me. Thus, my collection for both systems has a ton of sports games and video games based on existing franchises, usually from the world of Hollywood. (I have five Harry Potter games for my GameCube, yet I don’t own a single Zelda title for the console. Shame on me).
Yeah I know, the collections look pretty cruddy from the outside, but luckily for me I did have some really great games amongst those first two consoles, and now that I’m older and a tad bit “richer” I’ve started to go back and scourer the interweb looking for all those classic games I really wanted to play, but missed the first time around. Games like; Banjoo Kazooie, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario, Diddy Kong Racing, Metroid Prime and plenty more. But don’t think too little of me, because while my “older” collections may not have been very big and are missing more than a few Iconic games, my more modern day collection has a wide variety of games and plenty of the systems’ icon franchises.
If you could look at my collection you’d notice my largest is the PS3 with a total of 110 games, and my second largest being the GameCube with 40 games. I love all video games, but my favorite genres are Third Person Shooters, Action/Adventure, and Platformers. In general, I usually shy away from any game in first-person simply because I’ve never liked the way those types of games control. But don’t slap me in the face just yet, because I have played a fair share of first-person perspective games such as; Half-Life 2, Bioshock 1 and 2, and Far Cry 3 to name a few. I also feel like the first-person market is extremely oversaturated with so many games and that the genre always comes off as unappealing initially.
I came to Nerd Bacon.com amongst stumbling upon a wanted sign on craigslist. I had always been looking for away to write about video games and share my knowledge and joy with others around the world, but never felt like I had a platform to do so. I was also very shy about writing at first, and I’m so happy that I can stand here today and give a HUGE thank you to everyone apart of the Nerd Bacon team. Ever since day one the community here has been nothing but welcoming and kind. Personally, I think it’s one of the biggest reasons you should stick around. Sit down with us some evening and watch a stream, eat some bacon and read one of our reviews, or head over to our blog page and comment on how irrelevant or goofy we can be at times. The point here is, we may be small now but that comes with a great privilege. The people here are passionate and genuine. I’ve been a part of Nerd Bacon for close to a year and it’s been an amazing experience. I hope you’ll stick around and not only continue to tag along with me on my own journey, but perhaps branch out and start your own. We are always looking for more contributors here on the site.
So what games do I have? Well, they’d be too many to list so how’s about I come out with the easy answer and just list my consoles.
And very soon (soon meaning the end of the year) you can add a Playstation 4 and Xbox One to that list. Well…hopefully at least.
Finally, you may be wondering what it is that has made me so passionate about video games. It’s pretty simple really. You see I love using my own imagination, but I also love to see other people’s imaginations come to life. I’m also a huge sucker for fictional stories. My motto has always been “in the world of fiction, a book takes you on a journey WITH someone, a movie allows you to SEE someone go on an adventure, but a video game….well, a video game YOU take the adventure. A video game is YOUR story. Having an interactive medium that allows us to escape the real world and go to places we’ll never get the chance to in our real lives is something truly special. It’s something I love dearly, cherish, and try to never take for granted. Playing video games may seem “dorky” or “lame”, but you know what? Screw those people!! There just jealous that I’ve saved a royal princess a billion times over, saved an entire galaxy from annihilation, and won the super bowl more than 10 times.
Video Games are awesome. I’m awesome. Nerd Bacon is awesome. YOU are awesome. (Seriously, though if you read through this then you are).
If you love video games both old and new and are looking for a great community to share your knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion with then Nerd Bacon is the place to be. That’s all I have for you now, so thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you around. Oh, and if you’re looking for a list of all my reviews click here!
