For those unfamiliar with the excellence of Retroary, let me take a second to break it down for you! Retro + February = Retroary. It is a month-long event at Nerd Bacon where we honor and celebrate the wonderful, yet forgotten, world of simple living, simple video games, and simple fun. For 3 years running, we have dedicated the spirit of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s to this entire month, turning it into a nostalgic road trip! Speaking of a road trip… Take your Sega CD games and put them in your car CD player and jam out to the game’s soundtrack! True story.
What is Retrogaming?
Defining exactly which games constitute “retrogames” is a heated debate among some. But we have decided in the scope of video games as we know it, “retro” refers to games/hardware released pre-2000. The Dreamcast sort of muddies the waters a bit as it was released in 1999 in The States, but a line had to be drawn somewhere, so we drew it.
We will be reviewing retrogames and more throughout the month of February and documenting the progress right here! Now is your chance to either take yourself back to the good ol’ days or maybe learn something about video game’s past. Check back often as we add to our Retroary 2016 list!
